In a decisive response, 57% of respondents believe the Panama Canal should remain under Panamanian management, while 32% support U.S. reclamation for national security purposes. The remaining 11% expressed uncertainty about the best path forward.

California Wildfires: Prevention Was Possible
Regarding the devastating California fires that destroyed over 10,000 homes and 12,000 acres, our respondents see room for prevention. A significant 49% believe some damage could have been prevented, while 24% specifically point to forestry management and fire department support as key factors. However, 27% view the fires as inevitable. Hopefully from this tragic disaster some lessons will emerge on how to mitigate these events in the future.
Chicago’s Mayoral Recall Bill: Strong Support
The proposed mayoral recall legislation has garnered substantial backing, with 65% of respondents supporting the initiative. Only 28% oppose the idea, while 7% remain uncertain about the proposal, suggesting a clear appetite for this accountability measure.

Trump Presidency Outlook: More Skepticism Than Optimism
Looking ahead, respondents show notable concern about the country’s direction. About 33% believe the country will be better off in a year, while 47% expect conditions to worsen. Another 12% predict little change, with 8% expressing uncertainty about the future.
The Madigan Testimony: A Community Divided
Former Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan’s decision to testify has split our respondents. About 38% believe his testimony will help his case, 34% think it will prove detrimental, and 28% remain uncertain about its impact, reflecting the complexity of this high-profile case.
