Hey there, Power Pollers! The results are in for our special DNC Power Poll, and boy, do we have some juicy insights to share. From the Democratic National Convention’s impact to your dream dinner date with the Chicago mayor, our city’s movers and shakers have spoken. Let’s dive into what’s buzzing in the Windy City!

DNC: Chicago’s Moment in the Sun

Last week, Chicago rolled out the red carpet for the Democratic National Convention, and we wanted to know: Was it worth all the fuss? Here’s the scoop:

  • A whopping 49.14% of you said, “Heck yes, it’ll have a positive impact!”
  • Another 20.69% went even further, predicting a “significant positive impact” (We see you, optimists!)
  • 28.45% shrugged and said, “Meh, little to no impact”
  • Only 1.72% thought it might leave a negative mark

Looks like most of you think Chicago knocked it out of the park. Take that, naysayers!

How’d We Look on TV, Ma?

We asked how well our city’s bigwigs showed off Chicago’s best side to the national audience. The verdict?

  • 44.35% said, “Pretty good, somewhat effectively”
  • 33.91% cheered, “Nailed it! Very effectively”
  • 18.26% winced and said, “Not our best look”
  • A tiny 3.48% thought we totally dropped the ball

Not too shabby, Chicago!

And the MVP Award Goes To…

Drum roll, please! The standout star of convention week was none other than:

  • Chicago Police Supt. Larry Snelling, with a landslide 64.91% of the vote!
  • Gov. J.B. Pritzker came in second with 28.07% (Better luck next time, J.B.!)
  • Mayor Brandon Johnson… well, let’s just say 2.63% is still a number
  • 4.39% of you went rogue and wrote in your own MVPs

Looks like Supt. Snelling’s keeping the peace and winning hearts!

Dinner with Da Mayor

If you could break bread with any Chicago mayor, past or present, who’d it be?

  • 51.30% are dying to dish with Rahm Emanuel
  • 36.52% want to reminisce with Richard M. Daley
  • 7.83% are curious about Lori Lightfoot’s dinner conversation
  • 4.35% would like to chat with our current mayor, Brandon Johnson

Rahm, if you’re reading this, looks like you’ve got some dinner invites coming your way!

Bear Down… or Up?

The Bears went undefeated in preseason (woohoo!), but what does it mean for the real deal? Here’s what you think:

  • 42.98% say they’ll juuust miss the playoffs (So close, yet so far…)
  • 38.60% are all in – playoffs, baby!
  • 12.28% are preparing for disappointment (Classic Chicago sports fan move)
  • A bold 6.14% are already planning their Super Bowl parties!

Whether you’re planning a playoff bash or bracing for heartbreak, at least we’re all in this together, right?

Wrapping It Up

There you have it, folks! Chicago’s looking pretty good post-DNC, our top cop’s stealing the show, and we’re cautiously optimistic about our Bears. Just another day in the Windy City.

Stay tuned for our next poll and make sure to listen to the newest edition of the Power Poll Podcast!
