An award-winning journalist and sportswriter, David Just is no stranger to the fast-paced, around-the-clock world of public and media relations. With 10 years of experience in print, broadcast and digital news, David built a reputation as a critical thinker and skilled writer with a keen attention to detail.
He brings to his clients the same tenacity that made him such an asset in newsrooms – building meaningful relationships, delivering clear and concise copy and offering thoughtful insight. David’s background as a newspaper reporter provides him a deep understanding of how to find, plan and shape compelling storylines.
A former Serafin intern, David eventually decided his journalism career would be best used by putting people in the media … or keeping them out of it.
He previously served as a digital editor, social media manager, sports blogger and baseball reporter for the Chicago Sun-Times. David also spent five years honing his craft in Texas, unearthing provocative and community-shaping stories for The Dallas Morning News and Lubbock Avalanche-Journal. David won two awards for his beat coverage in Texas, one for feature writing and another for ‘spot sports’ reporting.
David earned a journalism degree and minored in film studies at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He got his start in newspapers as a film critic and sports editor at The Daily Illini.
A native of the northwest suburbs of Chicago and a Lakeview resident, David is a recreational tennis player (read: he isn’t very good) and is always up for a night of pub trivia. His strongest trivia categories: Seinfeld and Springsteen.
