Susie Gura

Managing corporate communications in this day and age, given the rapidly changing challenges and needs of complex businesses, nonprofits and other organizations, requires the patience and skill of a highly specialized professional. Susie Gura is on the job.

Since joining the Serafin team in 2005, Susie has masterfully managed internal and external communications for organization as diverse as the state’s premier horse racing facility, a leading tobacco company, the nation’s largest retailer, an electric and gas utility and a west suburban community.

Susie moves smartly, quickly and gracefully from challenges such as organizing a rally at the state Capitol and highlighting a client’s issue in the news to responding to media inquiries and developing and implementing an array of push communications from newsletters to Web sites.

Susie blends a journalist’s sensibility, having graduated from the University of Kansas with a journalism degree in 1999 and worked as a reporter and editor for Suburban Life Newspapers, with the savvy and know-how of a seasoned corporate professional.

Susie managed widespread coverage of a police dog’s shooting death in 2006. And in 2007, she successfully earned extensive media coverage of the horse racing facility’s transition from a dirt track to the new synthetic Polytrack, installed to insure the safety of the horses and jockeys.

Susie also handled the internal and external communications for the suburban community, lending her expertise to market and brand the community. She displayed her strong public relations skills while promoting a major festival for the suburban community, securing regional coverage from such outlets as NBC, ABC, and Crain’s Chicago Business, along with anticipated coverage from local newspapers.

She also specializes in creating communication plans, promoting events and developing materials – particularly Web-based and other multimedia content – for our clients.

Susie recently completed her fourth Chicago Marathon this year on behalf of the Alzheimer’s Association. She lives near Chicago’s West Loop.
